ShortlistCongratulations to the film makers whose entries have been short-listed for our Premier Award. The announcement of the winner and presentation of the £1,000 prize will be made during our awards ceremony on 18th November, and will be later made available on our web site. Other films submitted for the competition are still being considered for the SIGNIS award, which will also be presnted during the Festival. THE SHORTLIST At Home with the Jedi (10 mins) A domestic portrait about faith, family and future, meeting the founders of the UK’s Church of Jediism, whose galactic ambitions reach far beyond their small town existence. Producer: Sarah Tierney, Glasgow Bride and Gloom (16 mins) A Young Indian bride battles against her strictly traditional mother in law on her wedding day Director: Ronak Singh, Teeside Choices (7 mins) A woman finds herself on a long, never Ending road to nowhere, with no idea how she got there. Writer/Director: Ryan Hendrick, Glasgow Dominoes (11 mins) Drama - Everyone needs faith in something. But how can faith survive when fate shows no mercy? Dominoes is the story of four peoples lives and how their actions and decisions inadvertently effect each others fates. Director: Tim Lee, Cheltenham Humanitas (13 mins) Made by a community of actors whose common bond is experience of homelessness. Jack lurks in the shadows, waiting for the food van. As he is hounded to despair, an act of kindness from a stranger changes his life. Writer/Director/Producer: Lauren Tomlinson, Manchester Obrigada (29 mins) Shot in Sao Paulo, this is the exploration of the relationship between candomile priestess Mae Jujuard and one of her iniates, Salmana Director: Lindsay Goodall, Glasgow The Bees (13 mins) A documentary portraying the life of a Lebanese Bee Keeper. The story of the bees will reveal the hidden secrets in the life story of this Lebanese woman Director/Producer Rana Ayoub, Edinburgh Turbanology (30 mins) Takes the viewer on a journey to discover what role the turban has to play for various communities. Writer/Director/Producer/Presenter: Jay Singh-Sohal, Birmingham What the gods want (24 mins) In the year 2007, the Brahman had arrived to Preseton as a small village in India. With one passion he goes through many a journey to fulfil his duties and bring back his parishioners to the temple. This film documents the exhilirating fires of Western Hinduism.
