The 4th Insight Film Festival was proud to hold a special event for school students and teachers.
In 2013, we invited local schools to experience some of the excitement of the Insight Festival at our inaugural Education Day. This short video trailer gives you a flavour of the event.
The event was a huge success. We want to thank schools, pupils and teachers alike for joining us for the occasion.
Attendees watched a number of selected short films submitted to Festival 4 from across the world. To qualify for screening, films had to feature the subject of ‘faith’. Films addressed this from a wide range of perspectives and contexts: religious, humanist and atheistic.
Each film was introduced at a level appropriate to the understanding of children in the audience. This approach ensured that each screening presentation was made as accessible as possible for its young viewers, including optimum time for the audience to share their thoughts and feelings about the film.
A chance to react
An interactive seminar explored how faith is handled in film. Education specialist producers Damaris featured short films that officially accompanied the general release of Life of Pi and Les Miserables as well as examples of films made by school-age film-makers about the world, who spoke about their passion in making films.
The interactive seminars and workshops included the opportunity to:
➤ Make a short film during the day using their own mobiles, with tips from media professionals on vital yet simple techniques;
➤ Cast votes for the best films, just like our panel of celebrity judges from the film industry.
➤ An opportunity to meet and hear from various media professionals. Alex Sharples is an experienced workshop leader as well as professional stuntman. We also met Ramsey S James, the CEO and Founder of the Visions Channel to learn how to launch a television channel to change the world.
