The Insight Film Festival is delighted to announce the launch of a new competition designed for young filmmakers.
We are inviting young people aged 14–19 in schools and colleges across Greater Manchester to make short films on one of the following themes:
➤ I don’t believe it!
➤ Leap of faith
The films will be a maximum of 2 minutes long and will be judged by professional filmmakers and members of the international Insight Film Festival board and team. Winning films will be shown at Z-arts in Hulme during Insight’s Education Event to take place on 12 February 2014.
Who can enter?
The Insight School Film Competition is open to all schoolchildren aged 14–19 year in the Greater Manchester area. Insight hopes to use the experience of running the competition in Manchester as a pilot exercise for repeating the event in the UK and beyond.
➤ Students can work on their own or in a group.
➤ Films can be made in class, extra-curricular clubs, or at home.
➤ Films must be submitted to Insight by the schools/colleges, not by individual students
➤ Schools/colleges can submit as many films by as many different students as they like.
The winner of the competition will attend a short series of mentored sessions between March and July 2014 run by the University of Manchester Screen Studies department. At the end of the process a film will be produced that will be submitted as a UK entry to the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival 2014.
Prize-winning competition entries will be awarded at a ceremony during the Insight Education Event. All entrants to Insight’s School Film Competition will receive a certificate.
The deadline for submitting films for the School Film Competition in 24 January 2014.
