Insight hears from Daneeta Jackson about Chalmatia

We are always delighted to hear what Insight award winners get up to next…

Daneeta and Patrick Jackson (The Elektrik Zoo), winners of a commendation for the Premier Award at the 3rd Insight Film Festival for Mrs Camella Prays, have been in touch to tell Insight about their new project: a multi-media piece called Chalmatia, currently on show in the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans (CAC) until 8 September 2013.

The exhibition in the art venue’s Emerge Gallery depicts Chalmatia as ‘a fictional place down the road’. The piece includes film, photos and text depicting a non-existent suburb of New Orleans that is, nevertheless, very true to life in the real world. Carmella, the protagonist in The Elektrik Zoo’s winning Insight film, is also a character in the new installation.

You can read more about Daneeta and Patrick’s Chalmatia project on the exhibition page of the CAC website.

Please also watch the trailer video (01.00) of ‘Chalmatia at the CAC’ that The Elektrik Zoo uploaded recently to Vimeo.

If you find yourself in New Orleans over the next few months, we are sure Daneeta and Patrick would value your support and encouragement by taking a look at Chalmatia in situ at the CAC.
